It’s like guessing at the shapes or colors of bricks instead of learning about mortar or how to stack them together, and then being asked to build a giant castle with them. You’d have to learn how to build walls and rooms in spite of what you were taught, not because of it. How unfair to those kids.

Thank you! Hope she goes on to have some kind of a life, whether a few more years in service or something else, part of one of the museums maybe. She’s a cool “little” boat.

She still hasn’t been returned to service, has she? I used to live right by ore dock in Mqt and for some reason the Michipicoten was my favorite out of all the visiting ore boats. I could pick her out as the tiniest dot, miles away.

Just think, the single core function upon which Google built its initial success and then its data empire has become near-useless and they don’t see a problem with it. Yet they continue to dominate because… inertia.
The rot is spreading into gmail, maps, every other staple service, too. Ditch ‘em.

My grandpa worked on an ore boat on Lake Superior in the 1950s-60s, so it was always important to my family to remember those sailors, every autumn when the gales pick up. The song isn’t a perfect retelling, but every time I hear someone sing it I’m grateful to hear their memory being kept alive.
