the biggest surprise at Evo in the indie section for me was Netcode Warriors. I had not heard of it going in (and I'd like to think there's not too many indie fighters that sneak past me, generally) and it has a pretty unique over-the-shoulder 3D arena vibe.

Umbral Core: I think this game is really sauced as a spiritual successor to Vsav/Darkstalkers. Big shoutouts to a team that rewards you resources for blocking. It's modern in that there's literally 3 forms of resources to manage, but it plays well and looks pretty good.

I wish I played every indie game at evo but I gassed out on accident, but here's my impressions of the ones I did play:
Shot One Fighters: Game is very early so won't comment on gameplay, but the aesthetic rocks and I think it will have banger single player with its rogue-like structure.
