A ghostly dragon serpentines its pale body through the walls of an abandoned church. It’s mane billows like spectral smoke, and it’s face is clad in a metal mask. In the background there is a stained glass window depicting a sword, and red wisps pour in through the broken panes, revealing a red sky outside. This OC belongs to SpiritSai and is the Demigod of Light in SpiritSai’s worldbuilding project. A drawing of a horse-like creature in an elegant floating pose. Remember your favorite creator possibly might be struggling with imposter syndrome and doubt and this timeline sucks.. so if you find yourself thinking “wow I really relate to this persons work” or that persons work gives you joy, you should probably tell them. It’s a hard time to be a creative.

Ever since I learned this, I have made a point to preorder books from authors and artists I follow from my local bookstore. Often, they'll order an extra copy or two to stock on the shelves. It's crazy how low the number is to make a tangible difference!

I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

Evergreen advice for new artists, remove "Aspiring Artist" or whatever variation out of your bio! Are you making art? Then you're an artist! Life as a creative can be difficult enough as is. Starting off on the path by putting yourself down doesn't help you.
