Tomorrow is July 4th. Many towns across America hold a reading of the Declaration of Independence. It might be a good day to attend one.

NY-17 Rep. Mike Lawler had a local social worker physically dragged out of his town hall Sunday night.

Emily Feiner was singled out by private security, lifted out of her seat, as the crowd chanted “let her stay” and “shame, shame.”
She’s a constituent.
Not a threat.
Fascism again.

Like most of the DOGE cuts, this is a good idea if:

a) you have no idea how anything works, you're so profoundly ignorant you're not even aware of what to consider when deciding if an idea is good or bad but you like firing people; or

b) you simply hate America and do not want it to succeed.
NEW: Trump cuts are threatening a standards laboratory who's work on atomic spectra undergirds the entire modern economy.

The lab is run by just seven federal employees who have been paying out-of-pocket for their own coffee since 1973.

Highest price tag I’ve seen on a journal article yet. A 6 page article published in 1967, placed online in 2006 is USD 64 or I can purchase the entire issue for just USD 975. That institutional access you have as an academic is one of the most valuable benefits of working in an academic environment.
