Slipping back into the role of Mythal’s general is akin to putting on clothes that don’t fit quite right.

In a way, nothing changes - Solas has always had meetings with Mythal, and often they speak of strategy and the movement of armies in vague and theoretical terms. But he knows that things are different, and so does she. Everything has changed.

Or, he supposes, to Mythal’s mind, things have been put right; she had never been outwardly resentful of his desire to distance himself from battle and combat, but neither had she been interested in hearing about his life outside it.

The water ripples when Nehnan steps into it. Solas turns to look at her without thinking, following the path of Mythal’s gaze.

Nehnan has finished undressing, but she is not naked - she wears, instead, a chemise so thin that Solas can see the shadow of her hip bones even before she dips entirely below the surface of the water.
