San Francisco, Sonoma County, Humboldt. 🇮🇪 American. “?” means, “did they really do this,” “want more info,” “wtf,” or any combination thereof. Is Fire Season over Now? Don’tLookUp
Saw your reporting. Thank you. My neighbors saw it floating down the river.

It is pretty gnarly. Ground is already saturated from prior atmospheric rivers. Many slides. One house 50’ down a hill into the Russian River. A lot of surface water. Best just to hunker down and stay put if not in flood zone.

Or brooms. Not the flammable kind, though.

Aaack. Shuddering at the thought of a repeat of the last one.

Dr. Prather has been posting about this. bsky.app/profile/kpra...
The Air Quality Index (AQI) that says the air is safe in LA after the wildfires does not take into account toxic gases that form when urban materials burn at such high temps. Considers ozone, PM, NOx, SO2. My team and I are discussing going there to measure the toxins in the air (between SD & LA).

Can you do this using, e.g., the Honeywell activated carbon replacement prefilters? And do you put them on the inside of the MERV 13 filters?

Suggest that anyone who still has a home, fill up the tank/charge the car, pack the car, back into the driveway so you’re pointed at the street, toss anything flammable away from the house or bring it inside and dump it in the spare room. And just leave all of that for a while.

Thanks for this. I am so programmed to deal with Covid and aerosols that I haven’t been paying attention to this. Back to carrying hand sanitizer. Is this in Davis?

Trump will insist on some FTEs being responsible for sweeping the forest floor. /sarcasm

Glad to see the BBC is still checking facts.

“Wildfire management” is correct. Shaded fuel breaks are not “barriers” though. They reduce accumulation of highly flammable brush, eliminate ladder fuels and keep mature trees, resulting in low intensity, beneficial fire. This allows fire fighters to steer fires around communities.

Fingers are crossed for you. You’ve done a lot of prep.

Thank you. LA Tv stations were warning people about the fake images last night.

The next Supreme Court nominee.

Define “truth.” Suspect you and Zuckerberg have different takes on that.

Do you know if the cell towers are holding up? Supposed to have 72 hour backup power in high/moderate fire threat areas. Same for cable and phone company networks, including those providing VoIP phone service.
