It's that old joke about the shipwreck survivor who prays for god to save him, then when a ship comes, refuses their help because god's going to do it any minute. They don't want a solution: they want a magic spell that makes the problem go away.
Every time a tech entrepreneur says “we don’t need to stop global warming because AI will” I want to slap them with a fish that says, “if a superhuman intelligence came into being and we asked it how to stop global warming, it would say ‘stop burning fossil fuels, you fools.’”
I’m going to regret asking this, but… what mechanism are people proposing whereby AI will “end scarcity”?

i guess my hot take on cybersickness is that the computer isn't by itself causing cybersickness, it's the interaction between and embedded context of the computer with wider offline space, which in turn cyclically influence each others' construction at this point

The problem with every post-Millennial generation is they got to go straight to high speed internet. Of course you'll get computer madness that way. Make them start with those old screeching modems and work their way up
