They are two separate forms of identifying factors and are NOT interchangeable. They are both applicable. I am female sex and female gender. Someone can be female sex and male gender bc they identify as a male, whether they have the biological sex organs or not. Their choice is NOT YOURS to make.

The term gender should be used to refer to a person's self-representation as male, female, non-binary or how that person is responded to by social institutions on the basis of the individual's gender presentation. This is HOW A PERSON CHOOSES TO IDENTIFY IN A SELF-REPRESENTATION.

The term sex should be used as a classification, generally as male or female, according to the reproductive organs and functions that derive from the chromosomes. This is purely biological.
