Sharpham Road Playing Fields parkrun

A free, weekly, timed 5k walk/jog/run at 9:00am every Saturday, along the Strawberry Line railway path in Cheddar, Somerset. Open to all ages and abilities, kids, buggies, and dogs on a short hand-held lead.
After a week off to make way for another event, (in which many of us went over to Keynsham to have a crack at the Curly Wurly) #parkrun returns to the still-rather-brown playing fields on the 26th. Our volunteer roster is filling nicely, be great to see everyone again! 😀

A lovely morning for #parkrun this week - lots of volunteers, participant numbers were swelled with a fair few visitors, and the Strawberry Line and playing fields were in great condition!

The threatened rain showers didn't materialise at #parkrun this week, instead we got a lovely spring morning for a colourful relaunch of the parkwalking initiative with new parkwalker bibs, bunting and flag!

Lots of milestone shirts on display at parkrun this week and a bright if chilly morning. Thankfully no results dramas this week either!

20 dropped tokens given out in the wrong order gave us a bit of a results headache at #parkrun this week! Thankfully we had lots of great photos to help straighten everything out 👍

It’s parkrun ‘tutu’ day on Saturday, come and join us for a run/jog/walk and coffee and a natter afterwards. We are on the B route again as the playing fields are still a bit slippery and have also been churned up by someone with a remote controlled buggy 🤦♂️

If you like #parkrun *and* railway heritage then just another 2k past our northern turn point is Shute Shelve tunnel, if you’re visiting us it’s well worth exploring on your warm-down! And Martin here, this week’s RD, is also looking for volunteers, shout if you can help.

Things were slightly different at parkrun this week as we were on the B route due to wet playing fields, we still managed to get lots of good photos though

Looking ok for #parkrun this week at the moment and Holwell Rye is flowing nicely, lthough we will need to see how much rain Storm Eowyn leaves us with.

Busy old day at #parkrun yesterday, a good crowd and better conditions, Phil’s 50th, having to squeeze round the back of a live football game, and the return of Catherine with her new baby!

Looks like we are heading for a re-run of last week’s #parkrun weather-wise, there’s been a bit of snow on the Mendips but the Strawberry Line is largely ice-free.

Second highest turnout at our #parkrun yesterday of 187 in frosty conditions, pacer week, and a visit from parkrun royalty Paul Freyne too!
