I’ve been running a NZ version of this for years with our 50 cent piece. Even though it still exists (unlike our 1, 2, and 5 cent pieces) students (and most other people) hardly ever use cash - and it’s been that way for a decade or more. But performance in the study hasn’t really changed at all!
