One of the most recognisable features of 1.09.4 is OpenGL mode's Coronas, or "dynlights" that some objects emit. They were sadly broken in 2.0 and have not been featured since, though some people have made efforts to recreate them.
Some mods, such as EggManWay5, add coronas to objects such as the spinning after effect, resulting in this sight when combined with Super Sonic. The street lights in Starlit Warehouse Zone used to actually glow, thanks to coronas. Coronas come in all colors, but when put next to each other a blinding white glow would be the result, also seen with Hyper Sonic. Fires glow in OpenGL in 1.09.4, as do the shields.

2.0, May/June OLDC 2012, Lightless Labyrinth Zone by Shadow Hog. This is the first appearance of the Brak Eggman final boss as seen in 2.1 and 2.2, a Cyberdemon on fire that has to be doused to attack him. Internally Brak is known as Cybrakdemon, presumably as a reference to this.

2.0, THE MYSTIC REALM SECOND QUEST EXPERIENCE

The speed of the Buzzes is higher than that of the already fast Red Buzz, making it almost unavoidable to take damage unless the player knew of it beforehand.
