I don't want to be a dickhead about this, but I'm not sure I want to associate one of my heroes passing away with a paedophile being murdered.

Absolutely. And one of the most effortlessly funny people to ever live too. She impacted and contributed to the world we live in today in so many endless ways, some subtle and some very very loud.

It is. It’s also maybe the most atmospheric and scary thing I’ve seen this year. Two all-timer jump scares too. It really understands comedy and horror as two sides of the same coin.

Okay that’s great and alleviates everything. God bless Fennessey leaving it then pushing on it to get a proper, complete, organic answer because I’m suddenly excited afresh.

I forgot that was his next project and man, much as he’s properly the perfect fit for a Resi movie I also wish I was getting another mad original idea like Weapons or Barbarian in three years time.

Upsides:

A children's author won't say something mean about them on a Nazi website

Downsides:

Countless, infinite legal, ethical, moral issues; impossible to police; creates trouble where not necessary

It's either politicised bullying or it's Starmer saying he thought trans people don't piss

They certainly don’t exist in the way they used to, straight to streaming movies green lit to fit a gap in a content library instead of an artistic vision doesn’t really fit what I’m talking about regardless

Mid-budget movies may no longer exist, but if in a post-Barbenheimer world, proper filmmakers can smuggle so many ideas into big movies, we may just be okay.

That’s a brilliant example.

The medium dictates the terms on which feeling is spooled out, stuff that would be ‘bad’ is just a tool to get us there.

The story in recent Mission Impossibles are incoherent. Would be terrible books. But they’re delivery methods for a pure visual joy only movies do.

Absolutely. I think (And hope) it will. The growth in indie games has speedran independent movies’ growth from the 60s to 90s in 10 years. The gateway to access making a game has come down so far, it’ll naturally push us forwards as it allows more risky or original work to be made and consumed
