My Awkward Senpai - The leads have their charms and watching them bounce off each other is decently fun in this office romcom. But, 'mostly fine' isn't good enough when they are the only characters who show up. It needed some side cast members to inject a more life into the main duo's antics.

FAIL
Truth be told, this is an intimidating look from Kannawa. Kannawa is a good mentor to Kamegawa, even if she doesn't see it. Kannawa also clearly has caught feelings for her mentee. It's decently cute. But, even though these two have some ok moments, I need more to pick up the show.

Let's Play - This could be a decently fun romcom where an indie game developer has the popular youtuber who trashed her game move in next to her (and he's hot). Too bad it's so distracted by a myriad of irrelevant side stories (work drama, dull friend cast) to even begin on the main plot.

FAIL
Yep, that sure is the standard "move in next door" plot. The work drama could be its own series, what with her being the CEO's daughter and her her immediate supervisor clearly having a thing for her. The quirky friend group (and MMORPG party) could ALSO be its own show. Which makes three so far. This means that nice moments like this, where we see her feelings as her game gets roasted, fall by the wayside amidst the endless meandering of the show.

Hero Without a Class: Who Even Needs Skills?! - A bland fantasy anime that is so impressed with the main concept described by the title, that it doesn't bother to do anything else in its runtime. Well, that's not true, it also introduces members of the eventual harem as well. Disposable trash.

Yano-kun's Ordinary Days - High school romcom where the class president has a crush on the boy who gets injured all the time. What makes this work are two things. First, Yano's injuries are never serious, nor are they cruel. Second, Yano and Kiyoko are charming with their wholesome feelings.

PASS
Kiyoko noticing that even with the bandages, Yano is cute. Yano and Kiyoko holding pictures they drew of each other. No notes, this was a lovely scene. Yano playing dodgeball with his classmates, a nice moment to show his propensity for injury doesn't keep him from making friends. A moment from episode three that's a nice comedic callback to episode two. Which helps with the "comedy" part of "romantic comedy".

A Gatherer's Adventure in Isekai - It's what it says on the tin. And not much more. There are some gimmicks like a cute dragon sidekick and food-based moments I've seen done better in other isekai titles. But, the animation is limited and there isn't much of a story. It's standard isekai slop.

FAIL
Most of the show is our MC gathering items, like this mushroom here. No, it's not a psychedelic, that would make the show much more interesting. This is the parent dragon. It... doesn't move much. They didn't have the budget for that. Here is our MC helping an injured elf when he heard a growling nearby. Oh wait, that's her stomach. Because that's the level of humor we're dealing with. I mean, yes, the baby dragon is very cute. But, you can't build a show around a baby dragon and a boy without a personality.

A Wild Last Boss Appears - There are things this "isekai as a last boss" does decently. Some thought has been put into the timeskip and the rapport with the main subordinate is fine. It still delves into some less enjoyable parts of the genre, but it's not a bad show, even if I don't watch it.

FAIL
Our last boss character. She has wings, incredible powers, and is the vessel for our MC, a gamer who got sucked into the game. The blue-haired girl is a sentient NPC who supports the MC, and they go back and forth between enjoyable and annoying. The MC fighting an orc. Things are not going well for the orc. The MC with a cute sheep that is a nice setup and payoff, right until the sheep takes human form.

Cat's Eye - A trio of sisters are phantom thieves and one of them is dating the detective investigating them. This could be fun if it wasn't rushing through the heists (FIVE in the first two episodes) and getting to the reason they're stealing art. Alas, the decent third episode isn't enough.

FAIL
The sisters also run a cafe called Cat's Eye. Just like the name of their group. Clever. By stuffing so many heists into the early episodes, we never get to know the sisters as individuals, just as pieces of the group. So, when they laugh together like this, it doesn't mean anything. The same goes for the romance. He comes off as a buffoon and I even wonder why they're dating aside from the plot demanding it. This surface level moment in the cafe is the deepest we get between him and his girlfriend. All of this means that even when I find out why they are stealing paintings, I don't care. The show has given me no reason to care.

Dusk Beyond the End of the World - A boy gets Futurama'd after being shot defending his fiance and meets an android girl who wants to marry him. This bit is run into the ground, which means I'm already annoyed before we get to the tonal whiplash, superfluous prologue, and convoluted plot.

FAIL
The episode zero follows our main character and his eventual fiance (and adoptive sister, because lol-anime). This is their big romantic moment and of course it falls flat. The android wants to marry our MC. She's up in his grill about it all the time, as seen her. This Fuck You Gun from the android seems excessive, but with how over-the-top evil the bad guy is, it's not. You have a boy in a crop top and the show is so bad I won't even consider picking it up. That's this show in a nutshell.

Their relationship has been the emotional foundation of the show, and it's now moving in a new direction. One that passes what I am now calling the Lap Pillow test for het couples. And with the announcement of a third season and a movie, I'm excited to see where this goes next.

And that's the saddest part of this. If this is what he's creating, Watanabe's fastball is gone. This feels like it was a desperate attempt from an older man trying to prove he's still cool. But, he has failed when the team of characters saves the world, and my reaction is "so what"?

Axel, you might be about to start a fight, but you are not as cool as you think you are. Two characters out on some task because someone is related to something that just came up this episode. We've got a big action scene with a building collapsing and all I can do is roll my eyes. The group at the end staring at the thing they've been searching for. Whatever.

For what it is, it's fine. Perfectly inoffensive. They could have done more with it, but they didn't. The girls eat a bunch of food, have one-note personalities, and then the show is over. If that's your thing, this will do.

And so, when the mystery is resolved, there is still some emotional foundation to leave us satisfied. I didn't want to go into too many details here, because I want others to experience this for themselves. While it's "just" a solid scifi mystery, those aren't easy to pull off.

Ah yes, a photo of a happy couple. I'm sure this won't get weird. Two characters looking back at a ruined city. Is this important? Maybe. Our male lead, Kudo, tries to play it cool. Which makes his blushing face, seen here, absolutely adorable. Our other lead, Reiko, has stepped outside. Is this important? Maybe.

Even as I'm writing this, I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed it. There's no way I could call this an actual good show, could I? It's just a stupid comedy about cute girls doing murder things. That's done about as well as I could hope for given the genre.

This is the dynamic. Satoko has a silly look on her face, Konoha has a deadpan expression. They're great. It's funny because Konoha can't tell real Satoko from the robot Satoko. Not giving the context, but the duo passing out flyers stung. Every babygay couple needs their lesbian elders to help show them the way.

So, while I like certain elements of this title, it doesn't quite form a complete work like I would have wanted. Not that it isn't worth watching if you want to watch girls rock out with abundant sapphic undertones (as is tradition for this subgenre). It's just a bit off-beat.

So, the girls fully forming the band should have been around episode 4, not episode 8 or 9. I see what you're doing with the girls being dripping in sweat, show. As funny as this image of the two leads flipping off the camera is, I would like it if these two weren't at 10/10 at all times. Yes, the girls rock band anime has the requisite amount of homoeroticism. In all directions.
