Our first official weekend at the lake—eight years in the making. The skies opened up, and we were graced with a beautiful blessing.

Jimmy Carter’s passing brings back memories of my first White House visit during his presidency. I’m exactly 2 months older than Amy Carter, which made politics feel real to me as a kid and sparked my lifelong awareness of government. A true loss.

December 17, 1903: Freezing temps, icy puddles, and 27 mph winds at Kitty Hawk. Perfect weather for staying inside… unless you’re the Wright brothers proving flight is possible. 120 feet later, history was made. Sometimes bad weather gives you the lift you need. Happy Anniversary, aviation!

Fall is ironic—leaves change to vibrant colors, only to let go and fall.

A reminder that sometimes letting go makes life even more beautiful.

Grocery Shopping:
Then vs. Now

A Few Years Ago:

Walk in with a smile, fill your cart, and check out without a sweat.

Today:

Walk in with a budget, carefully select items, and check out wondering if you bought a small island.

One of our sons fell asleep watching reruns of The Office on his laptop at a friend’s house. I woke up to a notification that his hotspot had maxed out for the month. Feels like something Michael Scott would orchestrate.

First snow of the season… as a kid, it meant snow days and snow angels. Now, it’s still magical, but it also means shoveling and icy commutes. Funny how the wonder sticks around, just with a grown-up twist.

I’m missing my mom today. Two years have passed since she left, but there are moments when all I want is to hug her again. I miss her laughter and her gentle, sweet spirit.
