Just attended a CBP Safety Watch Training - over 2400 Charlotteans have been trained this week.
100s of area high schoolers have walked out to protest CBP.
Local friends are getting off the fence and showing up.
We aren’t breaking.

True story: I got a fundraising call from Texas A&M Tuesday night. I had been dodging them for a while (that 979 area code is a giveaway) - I had been a Century Club member but stopped renewing bc of the attacks of academic freedom.

I cast my first “harm reduction” vote (that I can recall) this election.
It helped keep a homophobe off our school board, but helped elect someone who might be more about corporate interests win the seat from under the good incumbent.
It sucked - really liked the incumbent - but had to be done.

I got to the precinct at 5:45 am - didn’t leave until 9:30 pm. My BP after 45 minutes at home is 132/101 - I know it was much higher during the voting day. It was a stressful day - Google sent nearly 200 ppl incorrectly to us. But helping democracy happen as a precinct official is worth it.

I have no sympathy for Usha Vance. She could’ve gotten off this ride quite a while ago - she was on board for mass deportation, for demonizing immigrants, for the Christian nationalism being espoused by the campaign operatives last year. She’s just learning she’s no safer than anyone else.
