In my limited experience of working in three countries, so much of the huge US nonprofit sector is unique and exists only as a result of governmental failure to provide adequate basic support and often human rights to its people.
This doesn't mean they are bad, but so many shouldn't have to exist.

I’ve come to believe that we need to gather considerable forces and a campaign to demand the removal of face masks by ICE, Border Patrol, FBI and police.
It is a practice in conflict with the principles of transparency & accountability that are central to the concept of democracy.
