Yeah I've seen a bunch of people claim that. Though FAIR (Yann group within META) wasn't responsive for Llama debacle, they have become collateral damage in METAs attempt to catch up. But that might mean losing leadership in other areas. Not a fan.

My PhD supervisor talked about his PhD experience mid 90s when he had to go to the universiry library and use a citation index to find papers. I cannot imagine how tedious this must have been Omg 😭

That's my process as well but then I spent quite a bit of time going through irrelevant Google scholar results. I've found deep research to be a decent initialiser, especially for topics where I have less intuition on the choice of keywords.

Yep that's still a concern so it doesn't eliminate the need to carefully check sources but it seems to reduce the cost of literature review to a certain extent by "getting you started".
