In my neighbourhood, there are multiplexes, rooming houses, apartment buildings, co-ops, shelters, refugee houses, single-family homes, and a long-term care home.

We’re all neighbours, and everyone is part of our community.

Shelters belong everywhere because housing need is everywhere.
A shelter can be a pathway to a permanent home — it was for my family.

Shelters are a public service — to get people indoors and support their health. They belong all across our city, and shouldn’t be politicized.

My op-ed in @torontostar.bsky.social 👇🏼 www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
My family needed the shelter system when we arrived in Toronto. Today the need is greater than ever. Doug Ford needs to quit sweeping it under the rug
Thousands of Torontonians need shelter. Simply moving them won't help.

Doug Ford wants to waste $75M on a change that will create more construction delays on Toronto’s streets and result in similar travel times for drivers.

In #DavenportTO, that construction will hit the local economy and the change will put cyclists + pedestrians in harms way.
In summary, Ford's bike lane removals will, according to a new City Hall report:

- Cost $75 million in direct costs and sunk costs.
- Make traffic much, much worse for at least nine months during construction to remove lanes
- Have minimal long-term impact on car travel times.
