Love my family, comic books, DC United and hoping the world doesn’t fall apart because of politics. Well traveled

Rereading Solomon Kane by @patrickzircher.bsky.social This is an underrated gem from earlier this year. As writer and artist, he puts on a master class. These pages are just an example of great action, pacing, emotion/acting from the characters, and on and on. So good!

One of the best comics now is The Power Fantasy by @kierongillen.bsky.social and @casparw.bsky.social. About a few people with superpowers who are on par with national powers like China, the US, etc. and the planetary implications if they ever come into conflict. Get it so they make more!

Happy schnauzer day from Jellybean

Just finished reading issue 1 of Good As Dead by the amazing @davidlapham.bsky.social , Maria Lapham and Dee Cunniffe. Definitely gives Twin Peaks vibes with the setting, complex characters, mysteries, and police drama aspects (but no supernatural stuff, at least so far). Highly recommended!

Jellybean got a haircut. We usually like her scruffy, but this came out really nice. She usually looks like her legs have fluffy boots, lol. So skinny!

I just picked up this GN adaptation. It’s very good. I’m not normally a manga guy, but it’s enjoyable. And tiny. Wish it was reprinted larger because the art seems to lose some detail in places

Love how you see two sides of the action at once. Very clever

Tara and I saw the last of the Lynch film festival they’ve been doing in Rochester. This time at the excellent Little theater for A Straight Story. I’d never seen it before, and it was really good. A departure for Lynch, as it was nothing weird. Sad and sweet.

Yeah, it isn’t retro and it isn’t pushing into new territory. I’m as enthused as the model they put it in

Small humble brag, but FF 48

For such a low-tier character, she’s had amazing artists, especially Toth

A timely advertisement from a 1955 issue of Adventure Comics (the first appearance of Krypto, which was just reprinted this week). The UN helping Iran with locusts

Shocker (to me) this morning: apparently everyone within 100 miles of the border (approx 200 million people & 2/3rds the country) are subject to warrantless search.

I’m watching ROTJ on a projector in my screened in porch. Such good memories, and it feels like it did when I first watched it. Highly recommended!!

So I’m at Midwood Smokehouse in CLT airport, and saw these comics on the wall. No idea the significance, and my server didn’t know either. Any guesses?? A North Carolina connection?

Going to see Wild at Heart with my wife, during a Lynch film festival at the George Eastman Museum with Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s statue out front.
