Who will finally lead us?
Is this all based on one Axios article that is behind a paywall?

Trump calling for the end of the Filibuster is a tactical mistake. It takes away a key plank of Johnson's argument, which is that Republicans can't be blamed for the shutdown because they need 60 votes in the Senate.

Republicans have only two options. End the filibuster or negotiate.

Shit or get off the pot.

This is a wrong-headed take. No one should want to see Article 1 of the constitution disregarded. Only money allocated by congress should be spend.
Cool we can fund SNAP, pay air traffic controllers, ACA subsidies, all kinds of stuff. Right when we really need it. When do we get the cash?

If SNAP really goes unpaid, feeding your neighbors will become a powerful act of political resistance.

Of course it always was.

Wow.

Democratic Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury absolutely destroys Jake Tapper — who tries to advance a debunked Republican talking point about Trump cutting off SNAP.

It doesnt make any sense to say Republicans just plan to let SNAP expire, ACA rates to sky rocket, the Military and Air Traffic Controllers to not get paid. They think the Democrats will cave. We will find out

The US is in a death spiral that it refuses to get out of because everyone is too wedded to a fake sense of normalcy and the broken status quo. Instead of fundamentally changing things, people just double down on what they know, and it exacerbates every problem, accelerating the collapse.

He is right that the Republicans need Democrat votes in the Senate. He cant get them because he refuses to negotiate. It is absurd to suggest that Democrats should be expected to rubber stamp Trump's agenda.
Mike Johnson: "Democrats are required to open the government. They keep saying, 'Republicans are in charge of government.' We aren't!"

If the Democrats take ACA subsidies and that's all, then either they are suckers, or they think we are.

If SNAP benefits dont go out right as Q4 is supposed to be heating up, retailers are going to be pissed
October 26, 2025 at 9:39 PM
In one week, SNAP funding will expire, ACA rates will explode, the Military will miss a pay check, and the Air Traffic controllers may go on strike right before Thanksgiving.

This is a real game of chicken we find ourselves in.

I take comfort in my assessment that none of this is sustainable. Something is going to give. I hope for the best.

Allowing millions of people to put their kids to bed hungry is how revolutions are born.

Some suggest that the best way to challenge a Prsident intent on rigging an election is to show up to vote in such overwhelming numbers that the rigging fails.

Wide spread hunger is worth all of the fight we have in us.

Pausing SNAP is a nuclear bomb. I dont think they will do it.

But if they do...

It would be such an obvious blunder for the GOP to allow SNAP to miss a payment, that it is very hard for me to see it happening.

The money is there. If they dont spend it, then only a stand alone bill would work, and that requires bringing the house back.

What is the end game here?
October 25, 2025 at 10:07 PM
It is hard for some Americans, (particularly older Americans) to admit to themselves that facism rose up in America, and the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave" allowed it to happen with barely a fight.

For the record

ICE IS TOO SCARED TO FUCK WITH PHILLY
October 25, 2025 at 7:54 PM
If the Senate passes a stand alone bill to fund SNAP then the house would need to come back to vote on it. The Democrats should demand that Grijalva is sworn in first
October 25, 2025 at 7:14 PM
So any word from the air traffic controllers? Strike right before Thanksgiving?
October 24, 2025 at 11:13 PM
I have a hard time believing that SNAP wont be funded in a last minute deal. Both sides have strong incentives to get that done.

If SNAP is ultimately allowed to lapse, however, it may signal that a new phase in this fight has begun
