I write about space, in several places. Used to write about other stuff? But now pretty much it's space. I also talk about gaming here, though. Also politics, sadly and mostly unwillingly, but I do try to damp it down a bit
That's part of the reason Bidenomics was so miserably unpopular. People saw all the paths to prosperity close: the only "wage gains" were in desperation jobs cleaning human shit from a hotel room floor.

Now, under Trump, it's somehow even worse. All hope's gone. So why try? Just lay flat.

We're right back into another Gilded Age where wealth is enormously concentrated, and the only path to prosperity is through marriage or inheritance.

The professional degrees that used to offer prosperity don't anymore; the only sector hiring is fucking hospitality.

So why SHOULD you bother?

Given the choice, I pick gog, always have. It helps that most of the games work on a Deck with minimal fuss once you've installed Heroic

I don't remember him doing DC stuff, but like I said it's been a long while since I've read much Big Two, end of Krakoa was kinda my jumping off point

Could be a pivot to some Image creator owned thing, maybe?

Also could be sales but jeez I wouldn't want to tick off Ahmed, he's a Talent.

Maybe it was a contractual thing or something like that

Or he might have been trying to sprint through his story before another damnfool Event changes the status quo and upends everything

Most of the reason I stopped reading Big Two is because of that, if you aren't Ewing/Soule level you're stuck

Very amused by the r/neoliberal escapees on here saying "NINETIES TV HAD ADS TOO"

Yes but the thing is there is an extremely important aspect of broadcast television that might shock you

Anything else mostly comes down to consoles having decent memory and fast storage now, but the PS4 wasn't 2016 tech, if anything the PS5 is kinda 2016 tech

And gaming is the solitary place you could EVER argue that software's better now, saying that about any other kind wouldn't pass the laugh test
November 30, 2025 at 5:44 PM
I'd mention gaming but honestly there hasn't been much "advance" there, there's still good games obviously but they'd be just as good in 2016 barring a few outliers like Cyberpunk

It's mostly just the eyewatering UE5 mix of TAA and ray tracing that's been the "advancement" and well it mostly sucks

Honorary mention to consolidation, which is why Sony is forcing a useless subtitling program on Crunchyroll because Sony Pictures uses it for their dogwater movie subtitles

Exclusives mostly

It's like B2B software, if there's nowhere else to go they'll eventually shit up the place

Also, yeah, sooner or later it makes you the Blue Team version of that RFK flunky that's babbling about how covid vaccines hurt some kids

The counter to that is pointing out "covid hurt shitloads more kids", but you can't DO that if you're doing "lmao its a cold" the same way he is
November 30, 2025 at 2:29 PM
AFAIK the thing that covid is supposed to screw with is your executive function, and yeah executive function issues are definitely going to affect everything mentioned in this thread

And you can downplay that, but sooner or later that makes you "Long covid is just hysteria lol" guy. Grim fate.

I think some executive at MiHoYo was like "uh no I don't care what your plans were, this guy is going on the roster, you have six months to make it happen"

Cue the most desperate rewrite since Frozen got upended by a single musical performance
November 30, 2025 at 9:20 AM
...ohhhh THAT'S what's going on, okay

Without giving too many spoilers, and granted this is highly speculative, but I think their plans got fucked up because one of their character designers accidentally produced the hottest dude they've ever made across MiHoYo's whole library of titles
