I think my profile picture says all I need to for the moment... I will come back later.
Personally, I think softening their brains to even accept the cogdis that must be going on in the background of their brains at all times makes them more susceptible to agitprop and the GOP will always be better at scaring folks into stuff than anyone's ever going to be

Are you going to at least feel bad if this becomes real?!?

Very very fair assessment, and I absolutely agree. The only way this type of construction should exist is with the consent of the people represented. That's where we both meet, completely. That faith, once missing, instantly turns to doubt, and with good reason. It's a Rubicon that's been crossed

This can absolutely be a bad faith use of that privilege, for certain, I just do think that might be an efficient way of allowing anyone to be able to petition one such member to then act on one's behalf, so it's not as censorious as it appears at first? I hope that explains without endorsing

... in a parliamentary meeting such as the DNC or DCCC you do need some way to be able to posit a challenge, and by requiring a senior or at least "bona fide" member that others can look to as representing the body in principle to be the way that type of motion can be submitted isn't terrible.

At the risk of seeming to be anything but disdainful of the current regime, I will take your reply as satire and still try and parse some of the arcane processes at work here. I think that's the "credential" conflict here you're skewering, which would be brought by a member in good standing

I think they're saying because it's an unadulterated list either on the ballot or after the results of the voting that does indicate the vote totals and doesn't then adjust the results, or had the ballot adjusted initially somehow i guess, to be fully representative of gender? It's pretty opaque.

I genuinely think this is SO understated as a pivotal point for society. There was just such an abandonment of the denormalization of violence that had finally even seemed to take hold, if only in weird authoritarian ways, with conservatives even in attacks on "violence in games, music, & media".

Vatican has one thing figured out at least...

Oh gosh, the author repost?!

Thank you SO MUCH for this book ma'am. I cant overstate how much the thoughtful approach you brought to this project made for such a phenomenal understanding of what I assumed to be an absolutely inscrutable & opaque sectarian cohort of Christianity if not raised in it

Cannot "like" this hard enough... EVERYONE needs to listen to this advice, EVERYONE.

I learned about this, and cut every single pair that wasn't gym shorts that day.

Someone named Jacob kings listed a podcast on Spotify called "the skepticrat" using your logo, btw? I got really confused when I clicked on it and there were no episodes besides your intro? Just letting you know so you can get it taken down.

The one reason I even bothered posting was to bring up one thing that you don't address in your book is the fact that, I'll use myself as example, I am furious that this has hurt my mom so that when she does pass, her last thoughts will be that I'll be in hell. I can't forgive that. I won't.

Ended up at a hippie commune of sorts that got non profit status as a church after being featured on the daily show... I have stories, for real, and am currently trying to reconcile with my mom who's relapsed into this after having a manic episode that I inevitably had to bail her out of jail for

single parent household, I was lucky enough to be the weirdly focused autistic and read voraciously as a child, got removed from homeschooling co-op after being star pupil because I just kept reading & that didn't end well. I left, touring musician for over a decade. Yes, including Ayahuasca.

statement towards the end of the book about the vast quantity of material you've received already... I think the fact that I might be one of several dozen people that this book's Venn targets specifically. Homeschooled, literally in referred C.J.'s sect, Hosanna youth "worship team" member, AuADHD

Saw this post, bought the audiobook, finished it in 24 hours, two sittings. Ugly crying at the end because I forgot so much. Not a bad thing, I just forgot the details. Your body never forgets the pain though.
I am going to try and DM you somehow as well, because I know that despite your...

Oh yeah, but like, even in the 00's it wasn't IMPOSSIBLE like it is now, just not profitable really. Now, you're burning money even thinking about it.

As someone that worked in one of these for a while, it's simply unsustainable without subsidies from either rental costs or wages. Once your "that place", no one other than regulars will come, and everyone orders one coffee for four people and will sit in the booth for hours. Space is to expensive.

This sounds like a very "mental health" thing to do, so it makes sense they used her for this.
