PLD Space want to launch Miura 5 from Etlaq, but they’ve not broken ground on an orbital pad yet. Exciting to meet the team and see what they’ve achieved so far - plenty of potential. Love the fact that the site manager, often alone out there, has created a small garden a bit like The Martian! :)

Been a bit quiet as I’ve been travelling. First to Hanoi to run a SpaceWise Academy, currently in Oman, next stop Dubai where we’re taking an astronaut to meet students in a bunch of schools.

On a brighter note, the Soyuz lighting and display allowed me to spot something I’d not seen before. The rather wonderful - simple - instructions in Russian and English explaining how to open the capsule in case it landed in the wrong place. ☺️

It is displayed so much more nicely than it used to be, and it’s cool to see it beside Tim Peake’s Soyuz capsule.

Woohoo! *Finally* the Apollo 10 capsule - the only Apollo capsule not in the US - is in the (new, free) *space* gallery at the Science Museum. I’ve waited a long time for this.

I know this is my space account, but hotdamn the Red Arrows are cool. Was amazing having them fly right over me on the Mall yesterday to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe day. #VEDay80

ZOMG. @space-jim.bsky.social - make it stop! Please!

Can’t tell if this is more shameful or embarrassing. #Crew9

I’m just out of the theatre, and Butch and Suni are just out of space. Welcome home #Crew9

Cosmonaut Kirill Peskov taking a moment to rest before launch. Apparently some shuttle astros used to nap during the wait for launch as it was first time in a while they didn’t have much to do. I often struggle to sleep, so it blew my mind, I’d be too excited! #Crew10

I’m reading ‘A Brief History of the End of the F*cking World’ - latest book by @tom-phillips.com. It was published last week and is terrifyingly topical! #WorldBookDay

First image is back from the Moon from the #BlueGhost #BGM1 mission that landed on the Moon this morning!

Wooo! Go for powered descent initiation! #BlueGhost #Firefly

So they lost the booster, but most important, they got into orbit - and it was a beautiful launch! #NG1 Congratulations Blue Origin.

Added a sticker to my iPad case. It reminded me a bit of the XKCD Opportunity cartoon, which arguably played a part in my space adventures. This one is Percy. 😍

Good morning from Dubai! Day one of the SpaceWise Academy and the students have been busy designing their mission patches already. I’m always impressed by their creativity.

I continue to be irritated that Samantha Harvey’s Booker Prize-winning book “Orbital” won anything, let alone a literary prize. I know it has to be fiction to win the prize, but no excuse to get basic facts wrong. 😬

Looks great! Fun learning new skills also. I’ve been attempting to learn how to bead snowflakes…

20 years ago today, my mother died. She was my world. I miss her so much, but I am so thankful for the time I had with her. She was the one that taught me to explore, to humbly ask cheeky questions, to be kind and thoughtful, and appreciate the small things. Today I enjoyed the colours of nature.

Okay - that was pretty cool. Even with the more basic heat shield they managed to get #Starship back to Earth for a decent splashdown.
