Just another MAMIL. To be found slowly pedalling around South Oxfordshire. I'm occasionally allowed to leave the county on good behaviour.
I think I’m an 18.5. No boom-box history but I think I just had a kids encyclopaedia set.

The Chilterns can indeed be hard on tyres. I felt lucky that I didn’t puncture yesterday - I checked them this morning and no sign of losing pressure. @diminutivefox.bsky.social I see that flint sliced in to one of the thicker knobs on the tread too - no mercy!

"Yeah but, no but...must get in front"!

You know those signs are “advisory”? 😱😃
I usually ride in the middle of the road over that bridge and the motorists can wait…as they should do!

You got to see Henley! I did the Henley Hilly Hundred, which somehow didn’t visit Henley! 😀

Hah! It was a pleasure. I admired your capacity for conversation up some of those climbs. You seemed to get about 3/4 of the way up before running out of breath, whilst I was already huffing and puffing on the verge of stopping! 😀

Thanks! Yes, the lanes up in the hills were lovely.

Don’t think I was one of those that you passed. I only saw one chap on that section, stood by the side of the road in one of the dips.

I was very lucky today. The zip ties I had were just small enough to thread through the bolt holes in the stay ends. So it made the temporary fix quite secure. 👍

Renegade brewery! I’d struggle to leave there without having a few pints! Hope you had a good ride.

Do you not carry one of those little valve core removal tools? I always take a couple in case.

I missed the control at Turville & no way was I going to re-climb the hill out of the valley!

Approaching Chinnor one of the stay bolts securing the rear mudguard fell out, so had to do some running repairs.

The tyres held up well though - loads of people were having punctures.

Ugh - hope that’s your first and last!

Good luck with the ride. 🌙 ☀️
I might not do the Hilly Hundred tomorrow as I’m still procrastinating about clothing choices! 😂
November 7, 2025 at 9:40 PM
I use it occasionally to see what colleagues are up to. Sometimes there are some genuinely interesting stories or news items about my field. The rest of it is recruitment agencies and tiresome shallow “Well done!” platitudes.
November 7, 2025 at 8:46 PM
Yes you’ll want to sort that out! Hope you get it fixed and enjoy the ride. The weather is looking okay tomorrow. 👍🏻
November 7, 2025 at 8:08 PM
I’m also deeply procrastinating about clothes choices too. I’m tempted to go with longs and just suck it up if I question my choices half way round!
November 7, 2025 at 12:09 PM
Not me, as I’m doing the Hilly one. 08.30 departure, might see you there?
November 7, 2025 at 12:05 PM
But let me guess, despite Wales being Wales they only have one word for rain? 😀
November 7, 2025 at 7:44 AM
I keep forgetting that a single “f” is pronounced as a “v”. Most of my colleagues say uchaf as “oo-chaff” though! And don’t get them started on places like Tondu! 😀
November 7, 2025 at 7:43 AM
I ought to learn some of these. I work on projects in Wales and keep meaning to look them up. “Uchaf”, “Bach”…
November 6, 2025 at 11:24 PM
Hah! I didn’t fancy selling my soul to another company to verify that I am a grumpy, ageing adult! 😃
