Girlfriend day in Mahone Bay on the weekend. Browsing the shops, mingling with the life size decor and real life Father Christmas, lunch at Betty’s At The Kitch. A few gifts and goodies acquired, along with a delicious new recipe idea to try and replicate at home.

It was convenient to step out on our veranda to capture sunsets and lakefront scenes for the past decade, but we’re still moments away from both the Atlantic Ocean and the LaHave River, can’t complain. 🙏🏻 We went for a short drive today, I took 100 pictures, here’s four. 😊📷

Monday morning resolution - less mindless distraction, more focus on creating feelings of personal accomplishment, or simply nurturing peace and calm. Hope the week finds you well. 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️

What’s up? iPhone shot of the northern sky outside, better than naked eye but otherwise unaltered. Pinks and greens in the clouds, a rare sight for Nova Scotia, quite the geometric storm.

Monday night “tired of the usual” home cooking. Seared Arctic Char with creamy orzo pasta. Looks fancy but one-pan convenience and tasty. 😋

chasing sunsets…

The news from the US often makes me think of an e-book I read last year, written by Sinclair Lewis in 1935, titled “It Can’t Happen Here”. History repeats, crazy-strong parallels throughout the book. Just for fun, I did a relevant keyword search today and here’s what it came up with -

A frequent backyard visitor in our new neighbourhood, friendly photogenic, personality plus. I have yet to learn its actual name, I call it Tabitha, Concordia Cat, or usually just kitty kitty kitty.

Back to blue skies with a few pretty clouds and the hills are alive on the horizon because nobody wants to hear my complaints including me. Have a lovely day. 😊🙏🏻

A bright white circle in a pitch black square. Beaver Moon.

So bright and full, it created a perfectly round frame behind the trees, then bathed the clouds in light. Night shots are not my forte but worth venturing into the cold windy yard for a peek and a pic.

Living in an area of very rocky ground and also minutes away from the ocean coast, this is a hard-to-choose photo challenge for me. (A photo library search for "Rock" brings up 5000 results) 😆 A few favourites for the close of week.

A new visitor to the backyard yesterday, coincidence? 🐈‍⬛🎃. Black beauty was promptly chased off by a lovely orange tabby and I’m rethinking my future bird feeding. Scary.

Splish splash! The birdbath and sunflower seeds were one of the first items I moved to our new place, letting the year-round yardbirds know there’s a friendly new face in the neighborhood. This dark-eyed junco approaches a dip the same as me - count to three, it’s nice once you’re in. 😊🙏🏻🪶📷

The sweet delicate sounds of a calm ocean washing up small waves on pebbles. Westhaver’s Beach near Mahone Bay.

The shallow waters, lily pad remnants, scruffy trees and native bushes of the wetlands are beautiful in their own way every season.

Fall Foliage. We took the time to take a trek into the woods to the marsh today. The trees are putting on a spectacular show this year, but this is a collection of the smaller things that caught my eye today.

Getting settled and preparing to celebrate Thanksgiving in our new home, making new memories and celebrating old ones. My mom gave me these figurines decades ago, it’s always a tiny joy to bring them out this time of year. Much to be grateful for, Happy Thanksgiving from our house to yours. 😊🙏🏻🍁
