They do look like Easterns, but definitely a Crimson Rosella! I haven't seen Easterns in my area for ages. Atm it’s all Crimsons, Kings, Rainbow Lorikeets & their babies! An influx after the 2019-20 Black Summer fires. I grew up on Bundjalung country—Northern Rivers—I know your rainforests well 💚

A newly fledged Crimson Rosella with most of its beautiful juvenile green feathers. And the first time this one has visited my deck. This one is younger than the other rosella visitors, which means there’s a new batch of babies in the area! ❤️ This is the best start to my 2025!

South coast rainbow lorikeets love old bananas. For the lorikeets that visit us we have discovered that rainbow coloured birds do in fact eat the rainbow.

A storm front approaches from the south

Bronzewing Pigeon feather
Left by a visitor to my deck this morning

A small grey wing feather approximately 6 cm long from a Common Bronzewing Pigeon. The feather shows an iridescent patch of metallic green on the upper left side of the feather. The feather is downy at the base and rests on a light blue surface.
