Family clarification: “We are still trying to reach the recently released prisoner who contacted me this morning, and so far we have not been able to. We have reached out to every official and legal body we can in hopes of getting any information, and so far we have not succeeded in that either. I apologize for causing worry to so many dear people because of my reaction after the call I received. I hope my father and all the prisoners are safe — that is all that matters to us.” The Commission said the caller claimed Barghouti suffered a severe assault by prison guards, including broken ribs, fingers, and teeth, and part of his ear cut off. Attempts to return the call failed, and the Commission noted past incidents of threats and harassment targeting prisoners’ families.

The group’s statement condemned him as a collaborator and said he met the “inevitable fate of anyone who betrays his people and his homeland and accepts being a tool in the hands of the occupying power,” describing it as the natural outcome of his actions, not an operation they conducted. ⭕️ The Free Press also claims Hamas “killed every dissident, and everyone who criticized them on social media,” after the October ceasefire. That’s a myth that has long circulated in pro-Israel circles, usually without sourcing. The killings after the ceasefire were limited, not mass executions of critics. Most independent reporting, including Israeli media leaks, UN sources, and Gaza civil society accounts, points to roughly 25–40 people killed by Hamas security forces since the ceasefire in clashes or executions after sentencing. The people killed were overwhelmingly individuals accused of: • looting aid convoys • collaborating with the Israeli army • providing intelligence • armed criminal activity tied to Israeli-backed gangs Not people who merely criticized Hamas online. No credible outlet has reported executions for social-media criticism. One would see that immediately in UN reports, human-rights documentation, or Israeli press briefings. It does not exist. Notably, the World Food Program reports looting of aid convoys has completely stopped since Hamas reasserted security control over the Strip. Over 95% of convoys were looted while Israeli-backed gangs and others roamed the streets before the ceasefire. “Nobody. There’s nobody who can govern Gaza.… There’s nobody who will do the work required to govern Gaza, which means pushing back on Hamas.” Israeli journalist @HavivRettigGur on the unique challenge facing Gaza’s future—and Israel’s wisest move in an impossible situation.

The right in the US and the UK are all demanding a pastor in Canada be released for refusing to apologize over his religious beliefs.

Two years later, Reimer was convicted on two counts of aggravated assault and was sentenced to two years in jail. A number of other charges in both Alberta and Manitoba have been stayed or withdrawn over the years, including theft, mischief, intimidation and at least two other assaults. Kids crying during altercation On Feb. 25, Reimer showed up at the Seton Library for a Reading with Royalty event organized with Calgary Pride. The event was geared toward children who were six to eight years old. According to police, Reimer "aggressively entered a library classroom." During the incident, he is accused of shouting "homophobic and transphobic slurs," causing some of the children to cry, according to Lakhoo. The Crown says that, according to witness statements, Reimer bragged about getting three drag events cancelled in the previous eight days and said he planned to return to disrupt future events. Reimer was arrested days later at his home and charged with mischief and causing a disturbance. The pastor has a history with the justice system in both Alberta and Manitoba with convictions including animal abuse and aggravated assault. In 2015 Reimer was handed 12 months probation after Calgary judge found him guilty of causing suffering to a dog. Between 2011 2013 in Winnipeg Reimer was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault and assault causing bodily harm.
