Me in Greece in the yard/field, gnats in my face, worms down boots, squishing through piles of decomposing grass and mulch/pruning, eating bits of sandwich with dirty hands...nature. Cool.

Me in New York City when there is a tiny bug in the apartment...WHAT THE HECK I CAN'T LIVE LIKE THIS.

I wonder what Guinness tasted like before they changed the recipe? It's weird to imagine it was a different beer earlier in my lifetime. It seems like it should have been like this current iteration for forever.

Long signatures and disclaimers in emails is a major source of inefficiency in my job (and especially when I was in medicine). One hospital's required sig was almost 30 lines of text. It was so easy to miss critical information in an email chain, and even harder to search/review past conversations.

It's not everyday you discover a brand new street food! This was in Greece yesterday, but apparently it's a hungarian-based food/dessert?

This guy crawled up on our sliding glass door to molt. It was amazing to watch. 5 hours or so from nymph to a brown cicada that flew away.

Even stray cats that normally fight will get along if they each have their own bowl!

I was very proud of this bowling score (and amount of marks) given I only bowl about once every 4 years. There was an alley next to my hotel so I decided to kill some time while traveling.

There is already a shortage of tax pros. Tax pro fees and self preparation options are already quite coatly in my opinion. And I say that as a tax pro myself. Free filing systems are (were) a great resource for those with straightforward taxes and in lower income groups (e.g.$300k income)
Congrats to TurboTax, which has worked for two decades to stop Americans from being able to file taxes for free.

When did Titan Foods in NYC close? It seems they may reopen? 20 years in NYC and this Greek American finally decides to check Titan out...and...I can't. 🤪

The worst situation for tax pros. LOTS of returns to prepare such that I'll struggle to get them out on the timeframe I want, which for me is no extensions because I go on a 6 week vacation starting May 1st. :) But right now have NOTHING to work on despite a lot of nudges. Grrr. #taxbs #taxsky

Flashback. As a third year medical student I wrote a letter to a senior pathologist to inform her she had mis-staged a biopsy. The next reply is that letter (with the backstory). #medsky #medbs

Embarrassing typo in email to a client. I wrote her "any deductions for your husband's husband?" I meant her husband's business. Sigh. #taxsky

"First they came for Trans Fatty Acids...and gave increased status to Cis Fatty Acids". [Don't mean to trivialize the issue but rather to point out the idiocy of the current administration banning anything with "trans" e.g. transgenic mice.]

Their tax pro is making my financial planning client withdraw a 2024 Trad IRA contribution as an excess contribution because they are "over the income limit to make an IRA contribution". But...there IS NO income limit!! #taxbs #taxsky

Found a $300,000 error on 2021 return. Told the client to immediately get the previous preparer to amend. Clients wants to sue. I said there is nothing to sue about if they amend in time! I told them to ask the previous CPA to prepare the amendments for free and waive their original tax prep fee 1/n

I have a client who refers to all tax stuff by the year received or being worked on. E.g. right now we are doing "2025" taxes. And I get a list with "here are my 2025 estimated payments, here's my 2025 W2, etc. This, despite years of explaining. It's annoying and cute at the same time. :) #taxsky

It would increase the cost of healthcare, but of all places, I wish hospitals would have better tissues/Kleenex. People who are sick or grieving should have nice soft tissues. I know that when I was in medicine and had a cold, I hated those cheap, sandpaper like tissues! #Medsky #MedBS

Kiddie tax question. Client had a child with $14,000 UTMA investment income in 2020, but child did not file a return. Never heard from IRS or state. Is that unusual? I would have thought the kid or parents would have gotten a notice by now? #taxsky

My wife saw two dolphins playing in the East River in NYC today, a 5 minute walk from our apartment. Fun! I'm glad for her, she was feeling left out hearing stories of others' sightings.

OH CRAP moment of the day. I gave a client info for Roth conversion of small after-tax 401k contribution. She sends statement showing a conversion of $450k. *)$#%&#@!! Did she convert the entire account? Turns out the plan switched to a new provider and "conversion" was not a Roth conversion. Whew!

Anyone else always immediately convert/translate income and prices with respect to taxes? $40 restaurant bill? That's $78 worth of salary I needed to earn to pay it. A bonus of $500? That's only $300 worth of airline tickets (or any other spending). #taxsky
