Hello out there :) I’m an independent musician who fell in love with folk music as a student in Edinburgh. I write quiet folk songs trying to deal with difficult emotions. I love to sing trad folk with my duo The Lasses, read a lot, bake, garden, & I am a mom to a sweet 5-y-old. Nice to meet you!

I have to admit I did not really enjoy an hour of tuning-talk at School of Song last Sunday, it fried my brain like a math lesson. But now I’m grateful for the assignment of noodling with open tunings again. I needed to lift my spirits after dealing with grief this week and it really helped ❤️

My songs are usually pretty soft, but they’re enough for me to disappear in. Or make myself completely visible? Not sure yet. Anyway, I’m really looking forward to playing a few live shows again soon - hope to see you in Eindhoven, Hoorn, Obdam or Haarlem! More info at www.sophiejanna.nl/shows :)
