Preprint alert!
We combined microfluidics, proteomics, and RNA-seq to map spatiotemporal protein expression during mouse somitogenesis and found a novel regulatory strategy: dynamic antagonistic gradients fine-tune signalling strength.

I’m very proud of Sonja from my lab who presented our work on frequency encoding of cell-type composition in the small intestine as an invited speaker at Sy-stem 2025.

How do embryos ensure precise tissue patterning? It’s all about timing cell divisions! Our new preprint reveals how cell proliferation syncs with signaling oscillations to regulate precision of somite formation and growth. Check the full story: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

Don’t miss the inaugural Hubrecht Symposium, this year on the topic of developmental biology - morphogenesis and cell fate decisions. With Fiona Watt and Ben Simons as keynote speakers. There’s still time to register and submit an abstract for talks and posters.

Ever wondered how stem cells ensure a balance between cell fates in the gut?⚖️Turns out, they’ve got rhythm!🎶Our latest research reveals that NOTCH-driven oscillations regulate stem/progenitor cell abundance and specify secretory subtypes. Check it out: biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
