Gentle reminder for cryoEM ❄️🔬 folks with Autoloader systems out there: check every now and then that the cassette back plate is still screwed on tightly… 🤦🏻♀️

This one is even weirder…cryoEM sample “bends around” left corner of the ETD image. No grids were harmed in the process.

Nearly had a 🖤 attack today when looking at this ETD image of a ❄️🔬 grid in our PFIB. Turns out to be “just charging” - and the dent is a distorted image of the electron column pumping aperture? 🤷🏻♀️

Ever wondered how the automated apertures of a cryoEM ❄️🔬know where they are and where to go 🚗? Not sure what I expected and why I find this so cute - but there's a tiny LED💡that looks at a teeny-tiny ruler 📏 and passes its info on to a controller...

Just learned that *knee surgery* is required for STEM on a Krios cryoEM🤨? I might have misunderstood… but ours got a brand new extra knee 🤷🏻♀️

#cryoEM sample storage cleanup (new year - new pucks) revealed an anonymous Polara cartridge? 😐 Our Polara was retired in 2020… 🤷🏻♀️
Also, I wasn’t aware @mpibp.bsky.social used to make those giant HPF planchette storage boxes. Not sure what to do with those.
