I go out of my way to avoid the use of AI. I switch it off, I use tools it can't touch. Perhaps Sweeney is right, but that just means that what's coming is much, much more embarrassing for him- "no use of AI" as an explicit selling point. His products will need to get really good to survive that.
I agree with Tim Sweeney that having a “Made with AI” label on games will be superfluous over time. Every aspect of building software will use AI and having such a label is equivalent to having a “Made with a computer” label.

If a game doesn’t have the label, then it’s most likely lying not AI-free
Epic's Sweeney says platforms should stop tagging games made with AI
The CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, has argued that platforms like Steam should not label games that are made using AI.

Okay this is so fucking funny because it absolutely is *better* than the original guy's stuff, and while I'm definitely conflicted about putting an artist out of business, it's clear that Ben's work has functionally been AI output for decades. AI can absolutely simulate right wing mindsets.

I'm increasingly upset how many extremely straightforward moral lessons were taught by fairy tales- the Emperor's New Clothes, the Boy who Cried Wolf, etc.- that the modern world is just getting wrecked by not understanding.

Listen, everyone had a phase of thinking it was a funny toy that could maybe be harmless, some of those folks play fortnite and as long as they come around I'm not gonna give em shit about it

there's a parable about it and everything
... what?

This is the game with the "AI" Vader that said fuck, but you're only *just now* noticing the slop?

It's like getting up to your neck in water and saying "Hey, things are getting kinda damp around here."

You cater to bigots, you're catering to people who neither appreciate nor pay for art. You get precisely one moderate sales bump, and then you're stuck with them and the negative goodwill they produce. Look at the other sellouts and how much they have to beg and plead after that first hit.

If a creative project is difficult, that's because you're learning. Either you can learn to automate some part, or you fundamentally don't know how a piece works yet and you can learn that, or you don't have a good understanding of why you don't like an outcome and can learn that.
For actual creative projects, those parts that seem most amenable to being automated are the parts that make or break the thing.

The devil is in the details, the masterpiece in the grudge work. It's even more important to care about the boring stuff and the small details.

Once that part, the part they give the least fucks about, has been sprayed with slop, there will *inevitably* be a new part they now give the least fucks about.

And then they spray the dogshit onto fruit just a little bit higher, until the whole damn tree is drenched.

The key thing about generative AI is that it is used by people who don't give a fuck about the output, and can't be fucked to learn.

i think tech and ai positive people are going to be in for a big shock when anti tech and anti ai sentiment becomes a major part of leftwing politics going forward especially as datacenters continue to destroy communities and raise electricity bills
Is this platform still massively against AI or has it moved more towards acceptance?

I'm a software developer. If genAI is helpful to you, you're not. You're going to end up with atrophied skills in a dead end job correcting a computer that is incapable of learning. Investors are already pushing for technical roles to go to folks who avoid those tools. Please change course.
I think that may be the core division here: if you are an author or an artist the cons of generative AI very likely outweigh the pros for you

If you are a software developer the opposite is true

The mirrors in Luigi's Mansion were an unambiguous tech flex- real time raytrace reflections on an animated surface that procedurally bends based on a player-interactable fabric simulation. Incredible to use that for a save point.

Engagement KPIs have been responsible for infinite scroll UI traps, RecSys radicalization spirals, public shame brigades, and basically every modern ailment novel to the past decade. At some point, you have to recognize that the problem isn't any one technology, it's the metric.
The company essentially turned a dial that made ChatGPT more appealing and made people use it more, but sent some of them into delusional spirals.

OpenAI has since made the chatbot safer, but that comes with a tradeoff: less usage.

Liberals please learn the difference between morality and legality, I know it's hard for you but sometimes things which are legal are immoral
Actually, no. There were no laws against having sex with child slaves in 1776.

"Horrific" or no, it wasn't "immoral" in Jefferson's time.

Would he have any less of a chance of being elected president in 2024? 🤔 #PedoDon

So there's a nonzero chance Mamdani just becomes President by direct, flagrantly unconstitutional executive order huh
A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."
