Russia isn't just an enemy of Ukraine, it is an enemy of the West.

This is not a choice the West made, it was the path Putin took Russia down willingly.

From propaganda and social media influence, to outright sabotage, Russia is already at war with the West whether we recognize it or not.

He just outright lied and I doubt people care.

while I can appreciate the sentiment from the screenshots, the rest of the article is.. oof. How exactly are we fucking up Ukraine in any way that's analogous to Iraq/Afghanistan?

I just keep this on my wall ironically.

I've got a framed Bernie campaign poster on my wall. What do you think?

Hey #dgg how many lists are you on?

Sort of like a badge of pride at this point.

9/9 To end the thread, here are some commonly raised issues with nuclear and some potential solutions.

Thanks for reading!

8/9 The Inflation reduction act has provisions for massive incentives within it, making investment in new reactors easier than ever. Rate payers can save millions in interest.

For this, I highly recommend watching the presentation by the DoE itself, timestamped here:

7/9 As more reactors are built, our workforce becomes more capable. This chart shows how the time between milestones lowered drastically between two recent reactor constructions.

This effect will continue as we continue to build new reactors and continue training our workforce.
November 23, 2024 at 2:58 PM
6/9 Upfront costs and first mover disadvantages make investing in new reactors a difficult proposition. The DoE has created a consortium model that would allow for cost sharing.

This lowers upfront costs AND aggregates subsequent demand, making investment a much better proposition.

5/9 Nearly all of our current 94 reactors were built decades ago. While they are still capable of operating, now is the time to start considering building additional reactors.

Most of these reactors are built on sites that were planned with multiple reactors in mind, allowing for easy expansion.
November 23, 2024 at 2:58 PM
4/9 We have a huge array of new reactor designs to choose from. These span from large to smaller reactors, though large reactors provide far cheaper energy. Smaller reactors do have the benefit of smaller upfront project costs and may serve some communities well.
November 23, 2024 at 2:58 PM
3/9 Despite high up front costs, which will be addressed later in the report, nuclear energy is a key factor in keeping energy prices low long term when paired with renewables and storage.
November 23, 2024 at 2:58 PM
2/9 From the perspective of a net zero carbon grid, nuclear has a huge array of benefits that make it an attractive option. No other power option checks all of the boxes nuclear does.

1/7 A mining proposal for copper and other metals in northwestern MN was placed on hold by the Biden admin in 2022.

Project 2025 calls to resume leasing of the mining rights. Let's explore.

HE'S GONE! I never thought I'd being saying this so soon: Thank you, Trump, for ridding us of Matt Gaetz.

Today is a good day.

They specifically call a use of recess appointments in this manner "a weapon to be wielded by a president against future Senates."
November 16, 2024 at 6:00 PM
@piscolitty.bsky.social Have you looked at the concurring opinion in NLRB v Canning regarding recess appointments?

Scalia writes, Roberts/Thomas/Alito join.

It reads to me that they would find Trumps demands for recess appointments unconstitutional.
