@piscolitty.bsky.social Have you covered Trumps authority to level tariffs via IEEPA yet? Having congress just give the executive the power to level tariffs randomly as Trump is doing feels like a consolidation of power by the executive.

That sort of power consolidation feels authoritarian.
The Case Against IEEPA Tariffs
Forcing Trump to use trade statutes—or to go to Congress to seek new authorities—would be more consistent with IEEPA’s history and practice.

Fundraiser‼️
As we all know Elon and Trump have been threatening us with shutting down Starlink.
Cunts.
Here is the alternative guys want to try. It would be fantastic if we could equip a whole battalion. 30 kits is the goal. $200 x 30 = $6000.
Can we do it? PayPal in the bio.

@ponderingpolitics.bsky.social Have you listened much to Hakim Jefferies speak?

He feels like he just repeats talking points like they're obvious, duh. There's this lack of feeling behind his words when he speaks that it feels like people are demanding from their leaders right now. Thoughts?

Russia isn't just an enemy of Ukraine, it is an enemy of the West.

This is not a choice the West made, it was the path Putin took Russia down willingly.

From propaganda and social media influence, to outright sabotage, Russia is already at war with the West whether we recognize it or not.

A graphic depiction helps make clear that Trump has no “mandate.” One of the narrowest popular vote wins in history.

The accomplishments of Liberalism have become like the air we breathe. Freedom of speech, the independent judiciary, separation of powers, governance through representation, popular sovereignty. Those are Liberal achievements, and they became so engrained in society that we take them for granted.
“I think sometimes we kind of forget that liberalism is a good thing. And it's okay to be proud of your country and be proud of your political organization.”

Russia is a terrorist state. Here they are attacking Ukraine with the goal of forcing Ukrainians to freeze this winter.

Don't believe them when they say this is in response to ATACMS strikes, they did this last year, too.

most people don’t realize that having a readily available, even kinda-accurate answer to “how many Asian women under 40 with a college degree live in Pomona” is a world-historic achievement that requires an industrial scale, heaven & earth moving effort. it is on par with CERN. not hyperbole.

Question: are many leftists populists with no leader?

They have a ton of ideas that sound good, that on paper don't work out.

They're against the status quo.

That seems like a lot of overlap with maga populists.

Populism is a messaging style, so I dont see why leftists and maga cant share. #dgg

Hey, #dgg, Recent video from @hankgreen.bsky.social discusses populism and how it's tied to media.

Discusses how the rise of different media technologies have given rise to populism over and over through history.
