it's also gratifying to see the almost total disappearance of the 'you're not supposed to play bass like that' brigade. I'm not sure if it's just that times have changed, or if because I'm now a 50 something dude not a 20 something dude, people are less apt to try and put me in my place, so to speak

I mean, now I think about it, having cancer straight after the pandemic, and trying to finish a PhD through there was a bit of a distraction. And a whole shitload of personal upheaval. So maybe I should be kinder to myself 😆
But still, maybe I need to make a concerted effort to kickstart some shit

Like, I was making music all the way through the pandemic - that was the easy part cos I always made music at home. And I'm still teaching. And I finished my PhD. But the magazine I wrote for folded in 2022, and all the consulting/guest speaking stuff just...never restarted...
