Hello everybody. We were going to play this festival in Galveston in May, but it came to our attention recently that the organizer of this festival is openly hostile to many of our friends and family in this scene that is supposed to be a safe space for everyone.

Though known for hosting and cultivating punk and hardcore rock acts, those familiar with the venue know that musicians within the dark-wave, experimental and industrial genres thrive there, and in Charlotte, Solemn Shapes is a beloved act that, after each tour around the country, returns to hone their craft in front of a supportive crowd of homegrown fans. Blending synthesizers, drum machines and samplers to curate unique tones through distorted beats, sample effects and synths, the duo always brings something new to the table in their audible presentations. Nothing compares to being in the room during their sets, as the stagecraft created by the band accelerates the already magnetic music put on display, turning any venue into a goth dance party. it just so happens that Growlers where we played used to be the dojo where #elvis studied #taekwondo with #kangrhee & there’s an unassuming poster in the venue that you might not even notice if you didn’t know that.

#memphis was fun. we dropped by The Legendary Sun Studio & they let us hop on the last tour of the day, they were so cool. it was surreal to stand in the room where a century’s worth of music was recorded in a decade. I think #bobdylan said that.
