i taped some taller rubber foam feets on the bottom so the cables arent pressed on when in use but it is working again

i hope this can help if anyone has this issue as well, but BE VERY CAREUL, the inside cables are very fragile and i scuffed the front-plate as well ^-^"

THAT was the culprit, one of the solder pads was loose and after re-soldering to a different pad on the LED strip it finally was fixed.

i closed the device with some simple tape in case i need to open it again and taped the loose cables on the back as well

maybe i'll make a custum shell in future

that wasnt a long lasting fix, so @misterkittens.bsky.social offered to solder new thicker cables on

we had to drill holes in the back to route them tho cause they were too thick to fit inside

but still it flickered, and then one of the solder pads on the leds snapped off

first i thought it was the two components touching as in the photo, but i was informed by a friend that those shouldnt be a problem

so i wiggled the thin flimsy cables and yep, that made it worse

then my solution was to position them so they werent pressed on by the components and it kinda helped

USB cable wasnt the culprit, usb port also no, but poking at the PCB made the flickering worse

also the paper on top is a plastic matte layer that hides the hex diffusion layer underneath
the matte over-layer being taken off

removing the tape was a hassle cause it was very fragile, but super sticky, the gaps though mean the device wasnt sealed for water resistance XD

then i could clearly see the control board and the simple wiring of the LEDs

now i had to find why it was flickering so i started poking at stuff
tape is off you can see how simple the device is
