This is the story tonight. Every Dem who was in that room should be telling us what they saw.
Himes: "What I saw in that room was one of the most troubling things I've seen in my time in public service ... any American who sees the video that I saw will see the US military attacking shipwrecked sailors."

*sobs in epi*
I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

Your job now, as an American, is quite simple: For the entire summer, whenever you come across a republican congressman, you ask him the same question @laurenwindsor.bsky.social asked Matt Gaetz: "Are you a pedophile. You hide the Epstein file, is it because you're a pedophile?"

Saving this for when I teach on the ACA to my undergrads, who do not remember a time when people with preexisting conditions could not be covered.
Not so fun fact: prior to the ACA I was an independent health insurance agent with pre-existing medical conditions. I could sell health insurance to others, however I could not have it for myself due to those pre-existing conditions.

He's a U.S. citizen, arrested by ICE anyway, so he gets fired from his job
Adrian Andrew Martinez, the 20-year-old U.S. citizen that was arrested by ICE while working at Walmart, sits down with our reporter, Aisha Wallace-Palomares, to give us insights into what he experienced. Amongst the new revelations, he shares that he was fired by Walmart.

In Spring 2022, we had a "return to campus." I sought a waiver & made my class remote. At multiple points in the semester, 30-75% of my class was out sick with COVID.

Please highlight this story.

ICE stormed into the wrong house, trashed the place, and made women/girls stand outside in the rain in their underwear. ICE also stole phones, laptops, and cash savings from the family, who moved to OKC two weeks ago.

Nurses are the unsung heroes of public health.

The leaked FY 2026 HHS budget could eliminate the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) and most Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs, which support nursing research, education, and training.

Dozens more pregnant and postpartum women have died in Texas hospitals since the state banned abortion, our analysis shows.

As the maternal mortality rate dropped nationally, it rose in Texas by 33%.

All of the myths and fantasies we’re hearing about protesters being terrorists, immigrants invading & fentanyl being a WMD should be understood in the context of a pending report from the DOD & DHS (due April 20) about whether Trump should invoke the Insurrection Act. These people want martial law.

In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

@bedoyaftc.bsky.social had me in tears. Not kidding. What kind of a top-level political appointee can write like this?

(Thank you, humanities education + his mama!)

His piece is like the antidote to anti-DEIA propaganda. It's pride-FULL just like what Irish Americans write about their history.
@bedoyaftc.bsky.social's video is great! But, what about the man himself?

This is from "A Letter to a Latino Public Servant: ... in Honor of Hispanic Heritage Month."

His Peruvian mama "didn’t just want us to be okay. She wanted us to be proud."

🥹 The man can write!

In a 2nd email plea, this sharp lawyer properly told his bosses what they were doing was "anticipatory fraud" aimed at screwing workers. Like they've done in other agencies.

If Mr. Rillotta still has a job, I think it's just 1, 2, 3 countdown til he's gone.

Outright thuggery. A hearing has been scheduled in the USIP lawsuit as of 2:00 this afternoon on a motion for a TRO. Seems likely a lot of stuff will be destroyed just in the interim, because the DOGE folks know they can smash quickly before the pushback from the courts.
After breaking into the US Institute of Peace (USIP) Monday, DOGE members immediately got to work taking down signs to erase the independent agency.

Photos taken yesterday shared directly with me:

a) This is an important thread as yet another illustration of how harsh US immigration law has been for decades.

b) the angry replies on how OP is 'excusing' what happened show just how unaware most people are of that longstanding harshness. Dude's just accurately describing the law.
Again, while’s ICE’s treatment of him is clearly inexcusable, the explanation for why he was detained IS included in the article; he has a previous arrest, and possible conviction, for a controlled substance offense. That has been a ground for possible deportation since the 1980s.
ICE stripped a German green card holder naked, drove him from Boston to Vermont to Rhode Island, put him in a cold shower, deprived him of medication, sleep and food until he collapsed.

No one knows why he was detained.
