I thought everyone was pissed at him at the time.

You remember the ACA negotiations that way? I don’t. Maybe I need to look back.

My point was he was no longer a Democrat by the time the ACA was debated in the Senate. He is the lone responsible person for sabotaging it, imo.

Yeah I remember. 2000?

Man I hated that guy so much at the time. I remember him being such a hemorrhoid during ACA talk.

Fundamentally my argument is that white people should be more engaged in recruiting other whites to vote for progress. We need to stop relying on black women to do all the work, and we need to acknowledge we’ve done none of it after 60yrs.

(Likely maga, not likely persuadable. They’re a cult.)

I agree but replacing people in existing D seats doesn’t increase our leverage if our number stays the same? I think the left has a compelling message and I’m not sure how to turn that into votes when all the other voting blocks are already onboard.
November 11, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Not what I mean. There are white voters who won’t vote at all because of racism or misogyny, or because they don’t care, etc. Agree the clear majority of whites who have voted, have voted R. Are they all maga vs persuadable? Unsure but likely. I think we have 176M registered voters to target.

I agree with the assessment that senate leadership failed to capitalize on the opportunity that landed in their laps.

I am focused on the Senate in this thread. With regard to fighting fascism in the near term, I support anything and everything including economic boycotts, strikes, and any other collective action deemed effective.
November 11, 2025 at 7:27 PM
I don’t think I’m advocating for only one approach. We can do more than one thing at a time? I just don’t think starting from 0 via a Senate “purge” has near term benefit.
November 11, 2025 at 7:16 PM
I’m unclear how “purging the party of these inept losers in the senate is more important than retaking the senate in the next election cycle” accomplishes anything and how it would somehow be more productive against fascism?

I think that’s how I took your “appealing to maga voters” comment. I want to appeal to white voters.
November 11, 2025 at 7:03 PM
Don’t have an immediate solution for 176M voters fucking the country up in November, no.
I want to try and “fix” white voters wherever we can. Won’t be easy or fast, but we haven’t even tried. Where do we get the votes from otherwise? I try to learn and do what I can. I appreciate your responses.
November 11, 2025 at 7:01 PM
I don’t think all white voters are maga voters. I think whites need to talk to other whites. That’s the HOW. We’ve had 60 yrs and done *nothing*. Never meant to imply it would be fast or easy, but I don’t see another solution. I picked Utah randomly, and I’ll defer to your expertise.

Anyone working with food banks would already know they can barely supply 1 meal for every 9 that SNAP does on a good day with full staffing. People were making choices between eating and using gas to try and get food.
