At SNV, we believe that everybody has the right to reach their fullest potential and societies must enable this by co-creating systems, such as safely managed and private toilets and a reliable water supply, so that menstruating individuals can manage their periods with dignity.

What makes the UTS-ISF's WASH-GEM unique? It highlights WASH programmes' connections to SDGs 5, 10, and 13. Standard measures can overlook who benefits and how climate-resilient facilities are. It's a dynamic measure of gender equality that evolves with each iteration. Insights from SNV and IDE shaped WASH-GEM's development. It's built on the 'Do No Harm' principle to ensure efforts don't create 'ripples of problems.' It prioritises safety, training enumerators to detect and address risks.
