It's amazing how fast plants respond following prescribed fire. This stand was just burned two weeks ago as part of training for students in my Fire Ecology and Management class, and the wiregrass is already green.

I recently bossed a 20-acre prescribed fire on private property. This is the third burn we've done here, and it's been fun seeing the habitat improvements from a first-entry restoration, to a warm-season, to a cool-season fuel reduction burn. Fire behavior was perfect and tame, meeting objectives.

We burned this two weeks ago. Amazing how quick green-up occurs following fire. Most of what is coming up is goldenrod. This is a retired agricultural field we're allowing to grow up in volunteer pines. The scorched shrubs in the back are eastern baccharis. I'm okay thinning a few of those out.

Whew, what a weekend! I would like to sincerely thank the Georgia Forestry Commission for hosting their Certified Burner Course for ABAC students in my fire ecology class. We had 30 students attend! The weekend ended with a successful 6-acre learning burn.

Not much to update, been busy developing course material. But I did finish a new rug. Dad got me a new tufting gun for Christmas, and this one makes longer cuts. I decided to try it out with a lion. I like how it came out! The 3D aspect is cool and it's oh so fluffy!

I organized a Learn-to-Fish event at Paradise Public Fishing Area yesterday with several students. We had a great time! The catfish were donated for our Beast Feast, which will be on March 1st. Please join us if you can!
