@snowclone.bsky.social
Soup enthusiast.
This weekend I impulsively went to a book binding workshop. I learned so much about book anatomy and enjoyed the process to the extent that all I’m thinking about today is going home to try my hand at binding books with printed content.

This guy, perhaps? I’ve always wanted longer legs and bigger eyes.

@howiewowie.bsky.social saw Nim Vind in Austin yesterday. Y’all were so great! Thanks for coming to Texas!

I watched the Blob this week, so of course I had to make a cherry kanten.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) my only jelly mould looks like a sphincter.

Watching a wild parrot trying to fluff up his feathers and warm himself like he’s Bob Cratchit.

This green feathery sphere hates the cold and damp as much as me.

Made a lil kitty print yesterday.

Remember these? The fun of the salt kiln is its mercurial nature.

Look at this sweet baby chow chow puppy!

Got yelled at for sharing my Thai food with this gangling adolescent grackle tonight.

But just look at his weird little face! Your hand full of crumbs would slip, too.

Having a rough week — getting over pleurisy and general ennui. Thankfully she is here to help.

Put some things in the salt kiln today. That rusty red will turn into a soft black because it’s fulla iron and the bright yellow is a actually a grassy, glossy green celadon.

I just love Franco Grignani’s 1969-70 Penguin SF book jackets.

He shot BW photos, which he then projected and distorted using lenses, shards of glass or mirror, or liquids such as oils to create these weird, trippy, single-color images. I especially like the continuity of the back. 🤌

He's so beautiful that I color-matched my living room paint to his nose and tummy.

Happy #nationaldogday to my most loyal companion, Cowboy, who never leaves my side, jump scares my friends, nurses me well when I am sick, and looks at me like I’m the most remarkable person on Earth.

Hung this scary guy to dissuade my named mourning dove, William of Beige, from flying into the window. I also gave him an extra cup of black oil sunflower seeds for his troubles.

Made a few things that I was proud of tonight. Dropped one I really liked.

Befriended a mourning dove called William of Beige, whose namesake, William of Orange, was a very clever homing pigeon.

WoB sometimes thuds into the window to get my attention and I just noticed how spooky his head and body grease imprints look at night. Betentacled William of Light Olive Drab.

Took Maddie to a place called Scissor Sisters for a haircut. Spotted Liberace’s late cat, Candy, seated on a Chinese mid-century yoke back chair in the adjoining vintage store.
