Let me help you with math. If there are approximately 8 billion people living on earth, and you wanted to gave each of them $1, that would take 8 billion dollars. So:

$10 -> 80 billion
$100 -> 800 billion
$1,000 -> 8 trillion

And so on. Not that hard.

Yesterday at the church where I work, I heard the word "Rapture" from the pulpit for the very first time in a PCUSA church. (Guest preacher.) The next time will be the LAST time...

I don't think the Epstein list is going to amount to anything. Then again, in 1973, I thought Watergate would just blow over.

I'd like to remind everyone clamoring for the Epstein files to be opened that in the 70s we all wanted to hear Nixon's Watergate tapes and nothing ever came of that.

Oh, wait...

I've done a little digging on Fascism in the 1920s. There were plenty outside Italy who thought it was a great thing. This is the introduction to the book The Keystone of Fascism by C.W. Cresswell, 1929.

It's 2025, friends. Stop hitting "REPLY ALL" when you don't need to. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

I started teaching in the '80s. At one point, I had an older colleague who was very set in their ways. At one point, I commented that they were "preparing students for the '90s... The 1890s."

Too many teachers are still doing that.

I just finished my 40th year of college-level teaching. I can't believe that I am STILL dealing with people who
*can't follow simple directions
*don't respond in a timely manner (or at all!)
*expect ME to take care of everything for them
*don't want to learn

Thank goodness retirement is in sight.

Whenever I hear some idiot politician say, "We need to run education like a business!", my thought is always, "What business? Enron? Adelphia, Blockbuster?"

About the damned stupidest thing ever.

I got my first full-time teaching position in the '80s. The Department had a reputation for not granting tenure. (Indeed, I got my position because my predecessor had been denied tenure.)

Texas will require public school classrooms to display Ten Commandments under bill nearing passage
The House has preliminarily approved Senate Bill 10 even though a similar Louisiana law was deemed unconstitutional. Supporters say Christianity is core to U.S. history.

Years ago, I was a member of an oral exam panel. As we asked the student questions, they just looked at us like anders in the headlights." We asked questions with really obvious answers. Nothing. Tried to lead the student to say ANYTHING. Nope. 1/2
