Counter offer: pick every battle. No fight is too petty.

If you should you will fight over everything, people will just leave you alone.
"you have to pick your battles"

ok I pick no battles ever
Rare moment where @gameonysus.bsky.social and I hardcore disagree. as a non-platformer, I love the fact that Silksong wants to kick my ass and force me to make tough choices. I love that it makes me just “get gud”.

BUT maybe I’m the masochist and Janet is correct for her hater-ade, and I love it

Hmmm... seems bad that Senate Dems are pretending not to know anything about this specific provision in the bill when asked by @ericmgarcia.bsky.social... Seems like coordinated faux ignorance.

I really liked the interview @karaswisher.bsky.social had with the new gen of elected Dems. But I had one major issue — Rep. McBride talked about getting the majority with imperfect allies to change hearts and minds re: LGBTQ people.

The Dems have never passed a bill to push the ball forward

The Times questioning Zohran’s experience kinda just boils down to ideology & racism but the idea of 33 being too young to hold a major political office is so funny. If he was a CEO of a startup that produced something worse than nothing they’d write a glowing feature on his new bold ideas.

ICE arrested former Afghan Nat'l Army soldier—our ally against Taliban—at his home in TX.
He entered legally and atty says he has no criminal record. Was applying for asylum. Appears to be casualty of Trump decision de-documenting legal Afghan immigrants

Former Afghan soldier arrested at Houston-area home by ICE, stripped of asylum protections, attorney says | Houston Public Media
The soldier is one of at least 20,000 Afghans seeking asylum nationwide, having fled Afghanistan after aiding the U.S. military during the two-decades-long war there.

Bitch you're the only person talking about this shit! This is letting the other side dictate the debate!

We've been beaten over the head with Alexander Hamilton quotes for a decade and yet party leadership still hasn't internalized the easiest thing: "Those who stand for nothing fall for anything."

Somehow this belief persists even as public opinion on issues like trans rights, gay rights, Russia, whether the president should be a king, whether immigrants should be put in camps, etc., just whipsaws around madly in response to media messages and political narratives
a large number democrats keep making the mistake of thinking that there is an objective, static, and identifiable middle ground on any given issue and the best response to decades-long right-wing propaganda is to divine the position on that issue that polls best on that particular date
Rahm Emanuel neatly demonstrates the basic error that Democrats make when they try to step back from social issues: IT’S THE REPUBLICANS, NOT THEM, who are “talking about bathrooms and locker rooms.”

You can’t fix this by changing the topic, only by defending your ideas and going on offense.

The regime is looking to provoke violence so they have an excuse to invoke the Insurrection Act, criminalize dissent, and federalize the National Guard.

The movement can win with mass participation if we maintain non-violent discipline and win defections from the security forces.

seems to me the basic error these centrists are making is that they are playing on enemy turf, rather than trying to raise the salience of issues that favor them
it's still wild to me that so many centrists want to triangulate on social issues when half the reason 2024 fundamentals were what they were was the economy

the white house thinks brute force is, no pun intended, a trump card. they don’t anticipate pushback and they don’t know how to handle it with anything other than escalation. the issue is that each escalation is itself a gamble. if protesters refuse to back down, you’ve lost face. (1/?)

I'm very interested in what people's read of the National Guard is, in general but obviously especially in California specifically
My hunch is that, as we saw with Lafayette Park, National Guard troops are not going to be as compliant as this administration thinks. It’s one thing to unleash cops consumed by warrior cop culture on neighborhoods. Quite another to send reservists who are also accountants, barbers, and teachers.
