If I'm doing the math correctly, Musk's big pay packet yesterday could have made each of these now-dead people millionaires instead.
He is among the sickest men the world has ever produced.
One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

This is what oligarchy looks like:

If you're Elon Musk, the richest man alive, Tesla gives you a $1 trillion pay package & Trump gives you a huge tax break.

If you're a poor kid on SNAP, Trump appeals a court decision that would have prevented you from going hungry.

Obscene.

The regime in the White House is making devastating cuts to the social safety to finance tax cuts for the super rich.

And the richest man in the world, who used his wealth to get this regime elected, is on track to be paid $274 million every day for the next 10 years.

Oligarchy.
If Musk meets all the benchmarks of his new $1 trillion pay package from Tesla he will be paid $274 MILLION EVERY DAY FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS

This is his part-time job

their plainly stated goal is to starve forty million people until they get what they want, which is to rip health care away from millions more

that this is too monstrous for most news organizations to tell the truth about does not change the facts
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

They will price people out of healthcare, a living wage, and now even basic necessities. Millions will starve without funding for SNAP benefits. Now, the Republican Party has started interfering with private businesses. They want to prevent them from being able to help the communities they serve.
Not only are they cutting SNAP and refusing to send food to food banks, “the administration has told grocery stores that they cannot offer discounts to customers affected by the lapse of SNAP.”

This is extrajudicial murder. It is illegal and unethical. And it is a pathetic use of American military force, demonstrating not strength but weakness.

NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:
ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.
Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.

Any one of us could be in the next apartment building that ICE raids in the middle of the night.

Any one of us could be on the next boat that Trump bombs on a whim.

Any one of us could be detained for hours despite being a U.S. citizen.

Authoritarianism hurts all of us.

It's dictatorship consolidating power.
Yesterday, a late-night show vanished with a simple directive from 2 of the largest media companies you’ve never heard of (Nexstar & Sinclair), backed by the FCC. That’s not “the market at work.” It’s concentrated corporate power cooperating with an authoritarian. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/17/b...

The Trump administration can’t threaten to punish media organizations like ABC and the New York Times because they don't like what they have to say.

The right to speak freely, protest peacefully, choose our own religious practice, and access a free press is foundational to our democracy.
