If the government cared about people's security, it would reverse cruel cuts, end child poverty and pursue an agenda for peace.

Hard agree: I wrote a bemused column about the automatic "hurrah! House prices have gone up again!" trope on news bulletins. If you've bought a house you want to stay in, it makes no material difference. And if you WANT to buy a house - you're fucked. So only property-flippers get excited.
This stuff will only get better when the mindset changes. Such as newspapers and householders not crowing over rising house prices...
