10 years Sonophilia: @smyselle.bsky.social, @merzmensch.bsky.social, @matthiasroder.bsky.social, Walter Werzowa discussing about the meaning of art and creativity in the age of machines. The audience takes part vividly. I liked the opinion that art is a fuzzy term. It is indeed.

This is my favorite piece yet on the state of AI & journalism. “The only journalism business strategy that works […] is if you create something of value that people (human beings, not bots) want to read or watch or listen to, and that they cannot find anywhere else.”

The Media's Pivot to AI Is Not Real and Not Going to Work
AI is not going to save media companies, and forcing journalists to use AI is not a business model.

this is insane - ask grok 4 a sensitive political question and it genuinely searches Musk's tweets to find an answer. this is not a hallucination where LLMs lack the capacity to report on their own capabilities — you can just see the searches the bot makes

After years of research, I’m thrilled to share my article on biometric voting in Africa.
I focus on the companies who sell the tech. They have become key actors for both election management and citizen identification. Yet we know little about them.

History repeats.

In late February 1921, 2 weeks before taking office as POTUS, Warren Harding writes a letter to the richest man in America, William Randolph Hearst, thanking him for helping him win the presidency with favorable coverage in major newspapers he owned & begging for his advice.

Make them think twice before doing this!

Also @hf.co should take this dang dataset down. It’s done do without company and more importantly, users individual consent.
New from 404 Media: Bluesky may have said it won't use user data to train generative AI, but someone else just published a dataset of million Bluesky posts for "machine learning research". Already very popular dataset, your data may be scraped www.404media.co/someone-made...
