Retroactive????
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

I got to hear Blair Braverman talk today at a CLE and her 2019 tweet thread on dogs and body positivity is still something I think about from time to time.

I'm not going to check X to see if this is the complete thread, but the gist is still there www.buzzfeed.com/sydrobinson1...

Thinking today how homelessness runs through this story, through Epstein's (Virginia Guiffre had been homeless before meeting him), and even through Gaiman's (his nanny was sleeping on the beach when Palmer recruited her, and he used threats of homelessness against another victim).
The woman whom the House Ethics Committee determined Matt Gaetz paid for sex when she was 17 years old was living in a homeless shelter, working at McDonald's, and needed the money for braces www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

This is so instructive about the reality distortion field that happens at the NYT. People inside really can't see the difference in what gets covered, and how, and how the amount of emphasis/focus changes what a story *is*. The example of the panic over trans kids is such an instructive case.

"Convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein" is a phrase that first appeared in newspapers in March 2011 and appeared regularly from that point onward. it is INCONCEIVABLE to me that this many people were still associating with him!!

I want someone to write an unauthorized biography of Larry Summers and title it MEDIOCRE WHITE MAN. He is the most listened to and promoted white guy who is consistently treated like a genius while being wildly wrong about nearly everything who isn't Elon Musk
Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.
