Uprooted by CJ Leede - Maeve Fly works as a princess at a well-known theme park in CA. She maintains a fragile homelstasis. Then she meets Gideon. Gideon awakens desires that Maeve had previously kept suppressed. I loved Maeve's sardonic voice. Inconsistent pacing detracted from my enjoyment.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik - a Polish-inspired fantasy. This book tells the story of a wizard in the tower, the Dragon, and villager Agnieszka as they fight to stop the advance of the Wood. This story reads as a folktale and this felt like it was written specifically to appeal to my tastes.

The Only Good Indians - An excellent insight into modern reservation life and issues of identity amongst American indigenous people. I loved the suspense built up in the first half of the story. I felt the horror elements of the book were diminished once the nature of the entity was revealed.
