Rural Radical + Movement Mom + Swamp Enthusiast

Movement orgs asking for donations for campaigns on issues or in communities where they've never worked before ... And the only "action" they list is "call the Governor" ... That's not building movement, that's grifting. And heads up: Impacted communities hate that shit.

Another #RuralFolksRally coming up 6/14 in Aitkin County. We might be a small group in a small town, but these rallies have been a good way to strengthen community & connect to other local issues & actions. Share around & join us if you can!

After listening to @mprnews.org talk about Tuesday’s protests against ICE & other federal police in Mpls, my 9-year old daughter says, “All things considered?!? But I can think of like 10 things they didn’t consider! The truth, for one.” Even Mpls kids know when they’re being played.

I started a substack... a place to gather writing about art, organizing, and community in our region of northern Minnesota.

Here's the latest post I made - a little recap of a weekend in the woods led by Fire in the Village - the nonprofit arts & culture org I co-lead with artist Annie Humphrey.

One of the election reflections I found inspiring & useful, from organizer Kelly Hayes. I'll pull some of my favorite pieces into this thread.
